Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and Harris County Commissioner Team Up for Free Summer Programs

HOUSTON (KIAH) – In a bid to provide enriching summer experiences for youth, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston has joined forces with Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones to introduce two new free summer camps at Precinct 4’s Bayland and Radack Community Centers.

Following an April decision by the Harris County Commissioners Court, a $160,000 contract was awarded to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston to oversee summer programming in Precinct 4. This partnership aims to make summer camps accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints.

“This support means the world to us and will make a monumental difference in the lives of our youth. With this funding, we can ensure extraordinary summer camps at Club Bayland and Club Radack, thanks to Harris County Precinct 4.”

KEVIN HATTERY, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER HOUSTON

The summer camps will span nine weeks, offering full-day activities for 200 youngsters. Each day will be packed with engaging sessions tailored to various age groups, covering literacy, math, social-emotional learning, leadership, athletics, dance, and art. Sessions will range from 30 to 60 minutes, ensuring a diverse and stimulating schedule.

Commissioner Lesley Briones emphasized the importance of these camps in supporting students’ continued growth during the summer break.

“The Precinct 4 summer camps at Bayland and Radack Community Centers will provide comprehensive programming for students who otherwise might not have access to summer enrichment activities and will support working families by providing a safe, constructive environment for their children.”
